Marcella
My Life:Marcella (Kangol) was in town today from New York. It’s interesting hosting people at my new office here in West Hollywood. We caught up on each other’s happenings in life. Marcella is one the coolest girls I know. She was so kind to drop off a few gifts as well.

Tools of the Trade
My Life:I’m not one to over accessorize, but as of late I’ve selected a few things that is making my life a bit more organized. Laptop bags are nice but I think carrying a satchel is a bit more classy. The same goes for a sleeve cover to protect your laptop. And what better way to introduce yourself than with a nice cardholder when meeting new folks?

13th Witness
News & Notables:My man Timothy of 13th Witness recently worked on a clever photo montage based on the idea of sport. Peep it!
Dinner at Home
My Life:My housemates are back in town after, what seems like months of touring their band, Dengue Fever. We decided to have a family dinner tonight. Nothing beats a good meal with friends. We fired up the grill and had us some chicken, corn, and two batches of salad. Dan (Evil Monito) came by and brought some bourbon. It was Thursday night but man did it feel like Sunday…

Every Day People
My Life:It’s been a long day today at the 944 offices. Had a lot of folks roll through to converse and connect the dots. I’m getting the October (Arts&Culture) issue ready. It will be first issue that I will be overseeing so I’m bringing in my circle of talent.
Meet Masa Inoue. We met a while back when I was building out the Evil Monito studio so it was a strange coincidence that he happened to drop off his book. He showed me a recent photobook project he did based on Echo Park. I enjoy his story telling through his images.

Later Patrick (Mosley Tribes/Oliver Peoples) and Greg (FIJI Water/ISM) stopped by and we rapped out.
Then, Shaniqwa Jarvis aka Shaq rolled by to talk about photography projects. Seems like so many people are hustling hard these days. Shaq lives in Silverlake but she’s usually in New York working on multiple things. She brings the heat! I was jockin’ her purse big time. Really digging the wicker steez, what’s up with that. Shaq put me on!

Revolve Clothing Store
News & Notables:I rolled out to the opening of the new Revolve Clothing Store on Melrose. It’s amazing to see how online companies are making headway and being able to create actual physical locations. The new store is well designed. It’s been a while since I’ve been to one of these outings. Caught up with a bunch of folks. LA’s fashion and contemporary designers are killing as of late. It’s an exciting time to witness this particular movement. For those who have yet to peep it, you guys should roll out this Friday for the public opening party where you can also shop the goods.

MAPS
News & Notables:MAPS from Korea is stepping up with each issue. When I first saw the initial issues, I was afraid that the magazine was going to succumb to nothing but mind numbing streetwear. Yet judging from the last few editions, MAPS is highlighting all the relevant contemporary and street fashion designers in Korea. It’s exciting to see all these creative movements taking place. The art direction of the book looks good. I anticipate the future issues to come.

Toi
My Life:I had lunch at Toi on Sunset. Toi is a punk rock themed thai restaurant. Honest to god, I haven’t been to this place for over 5 years! The food still tastes great. There’s something in the rice, might be a broth base of some kind but it’s completely addictive.

Janelle Monae
News & Notables:I saw Janelle perform a few months ago and I was blown away. She IS THE FUTURE. I came across this clip and I thought I’d show you a feel of what this girl is all about. Support good music! Also stay tuned on EM as we will be posting an interview with Ms. Monae soon.
