Everyone knows that POLO has made its firm imprint in the American fashion spectrum. Mr. Lauren’s imagined world where the highest echelons of society dynasties meld with Native American heroics and a newfound brazen attitude of modern America has echoed deeply into the conscience of many. What’s more fascinating is how POLO as a brand has

penetrated the subconscious of the Black American experience in their steady path of aspiration.

POLO has quickly become co-opted as the uniform of choice from the hood as the emergence of the “Lo-head” came into fruit in the hood. The subculture of POLO is equally interesting since POLO as a brand has never addressed this fanatical group, rather have chose to ignore and seems to amuse themselves from their retail line of excursion. Such is the lore of POLO to begin with, yet it’s rather refreshing to see how POLO acolytes defend their turf of “authenticity” and “brand loyalty.”

The internet is a strange place. Last week a video began to circulate around surrounding an attempted rape in Huntsville, Alabama. Rape is no certainly no joking matter but the news recap of this event spurred forth a new paradigm. The introduction of an “Antoine Dodson,” the brother of the victim became an overnight internet sensation.

Here’s the original video:

This clip soon made headways similar to the “Double Rainbow” effect…no pun intended. Famous art music duo “Auto-Tune the News” reappropriated Dodson’s voice and created a song now known as the “Bed Intruder” song.

Take a listen:

A few days later, the original newscast team did a follow up with Dodson to hear his response.

This is what our culture has come to. And I say this with a smirk on my face while I type these words. In closing here’s yet again another rendition of the “Bed Intruder” song performed by the North Carolina A&T Marching Band. Who would’ve known youtube can actually be used as an incubation of orchestra music?

Enjoy:

Rarely comes a documentary that unveils the secret handshakes of Capitol Hill. If this trailer is of any indication of what to expect, I’d say this is definitely a film worth seeing.

Synopsis: This portrait of Washington super lobbyist Jack Abramoff—from his early years as a gung—ho member of the GOP political machine to his final reckoning as a disgraced, imprisoned pariah—confirms the adage that truth is indeed stranger than fiction. A tale of international intrigue with Indian casinos, Russian spies, Chinese sweatshops, and a mob—style killing in Miami, this is the story of the way money corrupts our political process. Oscar—winning filmmaker Alex Gibney once again wields the tools of his trade with the skill of a master. Following the ongoing indictments of federal officials and exposing favor trading in our nation’s capital, Gibney illuminates the way our politicians’ desperate need to get elected—and the millions of dollars it costs—may be undermining the basic principles of American democracy. Infuriating, yet undeniably fun to watch, CASINO JACK is a saga of greed and corruption with a cynical villain audiences will love to hate.

One of my favorite shoes is a pair of Vans Syndicate –  Sk8 Hi “S” implementing materials of a checker jaquard and suede leather. These shoes just feel tough.

Logan Hicks, arguably one of the most talented artist friends I have. The man speaks honestly and from the heart. He has a show coming up at the Opera Gallery. For those who can make it, I highly encourage it.

I showed this trailer to one of my best friends tonight and she mentioned, “Why…always the ballerina dancer? That’s who the lover is…” I thought about this for a moment, could it be possibly true…that every great romance film we as Americans have been introduced to, was, really all a formulaic answer to all of man’s dreams…that ‘nutcracker’…the ballerina dancer?…

Matt Damon seems to play the protagonist of a great many of films where he bumps into someone special and makes that life altering move: Remain stubborn or go with his passionate gut and run away with the woman of his dreams. I admit the film looks somewhat interesting, yet I wonder if this is all a guise, a fat guise of what Hollywood is attempting to thrust down our throats.
