Neran put me up to this commericial for Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 album! This has to be one of the best art directed album promotion commercials I’ve seen! Going through the entire anthology of Jay-Z’s work! WOW. I am really anticipating his album!
In times of of a moral upkeep, sometimes all you need to do is lean on your friends. I haven’t had a chance to properly hang with Jim or Dan for a real long time. Each one of us couldn’t be more different than each other. We all have different social scenes and different friends, but oddly enough we all connect really well. Jim is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my entire life! He can make you laugh for hours on end! Dan is one of the biggest hearts I’ve come across in my life. He is a steady rock and a great great person. We all needed to escape the heat so we jammed out to Malibu. Dan knew of a secret spot, it felt like I was on a private beach. I actually dove right into the water, something I haven’t done in ages. I guess you could say I was baptized…ha…at least I would like to think so. I came out of the water as a new man!
In life, one has the decision to pick the people around you. And the people that you surround yourself with eventually shape the kind of person you become. These are my friends and they’re one of the best people around.
Remember it’s not about the destination, it’s all about the bumps on the road. Good and Bad.
Connected with Estevan to see what he’s been up to. We have been talking about working together on a project for quite a while. I cannot wait till we get down to work on this special project! I think people will be surprised…
Ever wonder what happens when you introduce two dynamic people? Magic! I connected Lanie (Hellz) and Ms. Galen Hooks. Immediately these two connected on different levels. I get so psyched when I get a chance to witness stuff like this. It makes my life that much more happier. I cannot wait to see how these two ladies are gonna get down!
The day was intense! Started out the day connecting with Bryant Yeh (Yeh Studio). I haven’t had a chance to talk to Bryant for a whole month! He’s been busy traveling and surfing. We ended up at Viet Cafe and got ourselves some food. Our conversations are generally really fast and concise since our scheds are so packed. I got a burst of inspiration from Bryant. Sometimes I realize that my drug is gaining energy from my peers (who by the way are always smarter than I). Thanks Bryant!
I headed back to the studio and sat down with Gary Garay and Taz (TI$A). I’ve been wanting to connect these guys together for a while. On one end we have Gary, young contemporary artist and on the other end, we have Taz, fashion designer/musician extradinairre. Both share an appreciation for high concepts and of course LA pride. It’s rare to see such divergent expressions of art connect on such a kindred level. I got a feeling these two will be working on something…
While at the studio, an old familiar face, Mr. Geoff Nishimoto swung by. I met Geoff years and years back while he was then a freelancer at Vapors. We always would see each other here and there. Finally had a chance to hang and just connect. Echo Park is very neighborhoody (emphasize the hood, ha!). We basically hung out in the backlot and sat on foldout chairs and chatted. Good seeing you bro!
Oh later in the day, the AMP girls swung by. Now I’m definitely be staying up on that amp high…ha!
Yeah a picture speaks a thousand words. Copper is one the most consistent things in my life. I truly believe he does possess a heart of gold. Whichever mood I’m in, good or bad, Copper is always willing to put up with it. He is one of my rocks in life.
With a consistent running repertoire of creating high-quality and fine-looking frames, Mosley Tribes has just released yet another soon to be classic, “The Patterson.” The unisex frame is made using durable bi-color acetate with CR-39 fashion gradient lenses in a 6-based lens curve which ensures UV protection, and looks just as cool as it is comfortable. Flattering most face shapes, “The Patterson” is available in solid color in Classic Durban Tortoise with Spice Brown Gradient Lens or dual combination hues, which include Bubble Gum/Black, White/Navy and Green/Black.
Spawned from the streets of New York, contemporary clothing line, Hellz presents their Fall 2009 collection entitled “Style Warriors.” The collection combines L.A. fashion with bold Aztec-influenced geometric prints, fringe and couples grays and blacks with gratuitous splashes of bright blue, white and fuschia. Pieces commonly used for street wear, such as the traditional hoodie or even just a t-shirt are propelled into the sphere of high-fashion. And their creative take on design allows much versatility, suitable with either a fresh pair of sneakers, a rugged pair of boots or even a pair of high heels. Also included in the collection is the “Taxi,” a jean that comes in black and indigo vintage washes which can be worn either casual or formal. The “Taxi” also comes with padding for additional “comfort” for those colder nights. Whether it’s with knee-high boots with torn tights or ankle boots with opaque leggings, “Style Warrior” is definitely something worth fighting for.
A couple of months ago I was asked by Bee Nguyen to participate in a video interview to promote the new AMP Energy drink. I was kinda hesitant but when he mentioned the fine roster of folks who were involved, I relented. I was really psyched on collaborating with Guy Logan who did an excellent job in filming. I was sick at the time so I hope my voice doesn’t come off too robotic…haha!!
Started the day going on a hike around Elysian Park. I kinda got lost midway and ended up re-walking the same trails…twice! It was all well worth it though. Nothing beats starting the day with some sweat and in this case, some tears.
I came back to the studio and Copper quickly came inside and made himself home.
Later in the evening I found myself stuck in traffic while enroute to interview Pollyn at their rehearsal studio…
