A Contemplative Tuesday
My Life:Is it just me or has the days, weeks, heck even months passed far too fast? I dunno when it is when I get bouts of creativity bottled with angst. It’s been a while that I’ve been able to write forthwright. Over the years as I went from a gumshoe reporter for Sportswear International and wgsn.com to later working as a company man for Hudson Jeans, I feel I’ve had to put constant layers on me for both professional and personal reasons. I launched Mr. Kim Says as a medium to express what I was going through in my personal life as Evil Monito the magazine went on hiatus. I brought Evil Monito back late last year as a means to re-enter the online realm and provide an alternate platform and arena where we could host and conduct thorough discussion of the world around us. I’m very satisfied with the progress of the site and where EM is heading. Yet I cannot help but wonder about it all. About the role of media, especially the internet. It scares me. I want to strive for a better more personal direction for Mr. Kim Says and allow myself to be more transparent and really connect with you who visit my site. I want to hear your stories and get inspired. Expect a few more candid hellos from yours truly in the next few weeks.
And if I’ve haven’t said this to you all before, Thank You so much for taking the time out of your day to read my blog. I truly appreciate it.

Well then break bread homie…..hahah jk
I appreciate everything that you do, all of your work, your whole personality. You inspire me, bro. Keep it up; you should already know I’ll be around in spirit haha.
really i just like the shots of korean food…HA! good topics on this blog and good to see korean-ams doing their thang

Keep it up Rickey, you’re on top of your shit, and there aren’t too many people with whom I share that sentiment.

great read, shots and definitely my source of inspiration. What’s not to love?
Is it me, or is this guy not only a poor writer, but also pretentious and self-important? He takes himself way too serious. Dude, get over yourself.. your work is not important.
it’s weird, it seems as though the more time passes, the more guarded we are. maybe nowadays we’re just too accessible on the internet. we kind of lose parts of us, which is good and bad i guess. well that’s how i feel anyway..
Hey Guys
Thanks for your support and also for the hate (James)…ha
But hey everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Leilers, you make an interesting point about how people’s accessibility via the internet has disallowed some sort of sacred boundaries. And in some ways that accessibility has also allowed some amazing connections. For myself I’m constantly wondering when and where that line is blurred. Again I appreciate all your words.
Sincere Regards.
James: It’s just you, bro.
Bredrin, a dude like you need to expand even further IRL. Go travel for a few months/year. See some new shit. Hit India, Korea again, where ever. As you know, there are tons of inspirational hot spots out there and fixing your eyes on new experiences not directly connected to the ‘street’world you’re living in now would help you tremendously to raise your personal bar. I can tell you, Obama would never had had the kind of perspective he has if he would’ve been your regular black American. Cultural affinity can be a good thing, but it can also ensnare you. Whatever you do, you’re one mean working machine! Jog on.
Andreas
Thanks so much for your words. It’s true, I think I really need that escape soon. I’ve been pining after Korea since I left two years ago. Perhaps I shall head your way to Sweden. ha!
I have to agree with you that those feelings about the internet and social networking and all that stuff are coming on strong. I feel that as we are getting quickly connected, we lose some content. I’m just waiting for the next implosion to happen.
As for your site, I enjoy both, especially Mr. Kim Says, but sometimes I don’t really know why sometimes I should be interested, because sometimes I don’t know enough from your posts to get some “buy in” into that.
Still, keep it up, Your perspective is good to read, and I do remember some good posts (like the speech about Palin by the black minister).
Hey Rickey, always inspiring to see both how far you’ve come while staying humble and grounded. I’ve been following EM since it scrolled sideways, continuously fascinated about what you covered and how you covered it. It was the definitive gateway that has interested me in all of…THIS. Although I’ve only been an observer, thanks for always being a source for ideas, news, creativity and inspiration. Definitely interesting times. I guess it’s up to each individual to see what’s out there, choose what they want to do, and hopefully be able to do it well while trying to always stay in the moment, finding that delicate balance and sustaining it. Leilers comment (first sentence) really struck a chord as well. All I can say is it’s the people behind the tools, not the tools. Although I have no idea what I’d talk to you about, because I feel I’m in a transitioning stage, hopefully our paths may cross soon with reason. MrKimSays/EM has by far been the entities I’ve followed longest. Also, just out of curiosity, do you and Alyasha still keep in touch? He’s another character that I’ve always respected and followed as well. In anycase, keep up the great work sir.
[...] My reaction from a few months ago. Oh and yes thanks for the feedback in my last written post. [...]
Rickey nice to see that you are a devout follower of our new Lord and Master Obama.
Peace,
Brad
Hey Brad
I’m not a “devout follower” of “Lord Obama.” I do however believe that President Obama is the right person to do the job at hand.
*smiles*
You rock!
my gf tutors kids. she was talking about the tortoise and the hare story once. as simple as a children’s fable is, it really helped me. a lot. i didn’t go back and read the story or anything, but just throwing the message around in my head…
