Belvedere has come up with a new beverage, a 100 proof vodka called Belvedere 1X. What’s interesting about this particular new product from LVMH is the packaging and branding that was created by Andre Saraiva, graffiti artist/night life entreprenuer and all around Parisian playboy. Andre owns Le Baron (both in Paris and Tokyo) and is a partner in Beatrice (New York). His network is vast and he is someone that is a constant fixture in progressive culture. I found this unique collaboration between Belvedere and Andre to be exciting, for one thing, the project is not a one off, it is the actual bottle and branding that Belvedere has embraced to push the Belve 1X brand. The drink itself is potent. LVMH is putting forward a strategic effort in seeding the product and key accounts throughout the world. Look out for Andre, look out for Bevlve 1X.
Mario and Orli invited me for dinner. They cooked up a meal fit for a king. Seared pork loins, Orly’s signature salad, carmelized onions and tortilla chicken soup. I miss cooking. Thanks again guys for making me feel…well at home. There are some things that a warm meal can never replace.
Patrick (Mosley) came by and gave me a black post it stack with the silver Sharpie stamped Mosley Tribes pen. I can’t get enough of writing silver ink over black. Good looks Pat, and a happy belated birthday!
I had a morning meeting with Bryant (Yeh Studio) and Takuya (Gran Turismo). We’ve been meaning to connect for a while. We had coffee at Echo Park and had a long discussion about technology, what role it was playing in our daily lives, how the youth were absorbing information through technology, the highlights and pitfalls of living within a hyper reality. It was great fun having this conversation with Takuya, who would know a thing or two about hyper realism via his Gran Turismo games. I don’t know how we managed to carry on into an existentialist conversation, but I found it rather satisfying to share my argument and counter arguments with Takuya and Bryant, who were very much open to have an open discourse.
Following, Takuya gave me a gift: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue along with a nice Gran Turismo Bearbrick. Thank you again Takuya for spending some time with me.
I had the privilege to not only meet but also to dine with Mr. Maurice Hennessy tonight. Maurice is an 8th generation member of the Hennessy family. He is the “H” in LVMH. Maurice resides in Cognac, France and of course he is a cultured gentleman. We spoke about the ideal of the manual arts quickly subsiding due to technology. Yet Maurice isn’t one to shy away from progressive culture. While in the car, Maurice requested to listen to Lil Wayne, he admitted he was a fan of hip hop. Thanks Kenny and Elisabeth of LVMH for making the introduction.
After dinner, we ordered dessert. I should’ve went for the apple tart. Then again Maurice would know what to order.
Spent a wonderful sunday morning with the EM Staff and crew. We keep our sundays as our days for editorial meetings. There are times when even I feel lost in what we’re working on but I get my energy and focus back from the EM crew. Sylvia is ever so diligent in putting together an excellent editorial calender. We have a few surprises in the works for Evil Monito this year. Wish us luck!
I came across this vid and I could not stop laughing out loud! Cudi is fucking hilarious, he’s a natural performer. Hey Vashtie, I had to post this, ha!
