I think hip-hop is in a very interesting place right now... poised for a great divide or fragmentation.  It is easy to say that people like Kanye, Lupe, Wale or Kid Cudi are the future, but the large majority of the highly infuential hood is still - strangely - waiting for the next Jim Jones album.   As much as I would like to think that hip-hop will filter out the generic, there will always be different factions - some very relevant on a pop culture level (Kanye and crew) and then the noise makers.  Go look at the line up of any major label... unfortunately I see a line up of lameness.  What will your article look like in 2 years, 5 years or 10 years.   Good thing you wrote it now :-)</description>
