May, 2008

May 31st, 2008-Sat My Life:

Today we hosted the Traction Ave Fashion Co-Op at the Kazuo studio. It was a family affair. Joel K is always stepping up the ante with his unique take of new media with fashion.

My boys from Apolis also made a nice presentation.

And of course the boys of Cassette were reppin as well.

Later at night, I met up with the Community Shorts crew to set up at the EM Studio. We got thirsty so we all headed out to the Gold Room and had our proper dose of Newcastle and tequila shots. The peanuts were a nice addition too.

Met up at Tiara with some friends for dinner. The place was pretty empty but that didn’t mean the food wasn’t good. In fact it was delicious. I ordered fish enchiladas and it had to have been one of the tastiest dishes I’ve had. Afterwards we hit up downtown for a poetry/book reading. I haven’t been to one of these functions since I was in college. It brought back memories and infused in me a whole new thirst to read again.

We hit up Old English afterwards and had our drinks of Schlitz and Colt 45s.

May 28th, 2008-Wed My Life, News & Notables:

Patrick from Mosley Tribes stopped by and showed me the new catalog that Paul (TST) shot. Colm and Sal is reppin’ in the shoot. Peep the SE x Mosley Tribes fixed bike. Sweet.

Afterwards I headed to the west side with a meeting with Matthew and Hiroki (Visvim). I’ve been in touch with Matthew off and on the past few months so it was good to finally meet. The traffic on the way however, was a whole other story. To meet Hiroki and to understand his design ethos was very inspiring.

I received these lovely Rockport deck shoes. A pleasant gift from the kind folks at Epiphany Media. Good looks to Kurtis and Coltrane! These joints are clean and classy.

May 25th, 2008-Sun My Life:

I hit up the Disney Hall and peeped a performance by Terry Riley, a world famous organist. For those who’ve been to Disney Hall, you cannot help but notice the pipes jutting onto the main stage. This was my first time I’ve ever been to the Hall so to see it with the pipes in full sound was on another level. For those of you in LA, be sure to peep the schedule for the Disney Hall and get cultured.

May 24th, 2008-Sat My Life:

Spent the day checking out a few museums. Finally had the chance to peep the new Broad museum at LACMA. I could not believe how many amazing works were inside this building. It was the who’s who of contemporary art. From Andy Warhol to Jeff Koons to Cy Twombly to Jasper Johns to Damien Hirst. I wish I could show more pictures but security was on lockdown.

Afterwards headed to the Natural History Museum and took in the sights.
